Saluting Success

Movements rarely pause to acknowledge progress. Advocates cross one finish line after years of coalition-building, rallies, and campaigning for their cause, only to quickly get back to pushing for the next urgent priority.
Last week, the Redlich Horwitz Foundation hosted a reception to honor a diverse group of dedicated parents, system-impacted youth, advocates, legislative champions, community leaders, and philanthropic partners who collaborated for many years to pass the Anti-Harassment in Reporting Act. Ending anonymous reporting represents a fundamental change that deserves recognition. This significant advocacy win will spare thousands of children and families the stigma and trauma caused by unwarranted CPS investigations triggered by anonymous callers making false allegations to torment former partners and others with whom they have disputes.
RHF executive director Jessica Maxwell acknowledged the tenacious allies and organizations that were instrumental in driving this successful campaign for positive change, including sponsors Senator Jabari Brisport and Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi. “We appreciate everyone who mobilized communities, gave testimony, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to earn this victory in the fight for family justice.”
