Partner Advocacy Updates and Resources
March 28, 2025
The Redlich Horwitz Foundation supports a spectrum of partners dedicated to improving the lives of children and families across New York. We believe the roadmap to achieving positive change in child welfare requires a different, more thoughtful approach guided by the people and communities directly affected by current policies and practices.
The following resources from our partners advocate for solutions and supports that help children and families overcome challenges and thrive together.
- Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy prepared a helpful new child welfare brief, A Family-First Approach to Child Welfare in New York State, and an overview of legislative proposals under review for the NYS 2025-26 budget.
- Watch a recent public hearing about the state of maternal health in New York, including testimony from the New York Informed Consent Coalition.
Read two reports that provide policy recommendations for reducing child welfare involvement by expanding community resources and economic supports to meet the basic needs of low-income families:
- The Child and Family Wellbeing Fund: New State Funding to Support Community-Led Investments; RHF supports the Child and Family Wellbeing Fund through grants to the Children’s Defense Fund, Schulyer Center, and Families Together in New York State.
- The Protective Power of Cash from NYC Family Policy Project.
